Continuing on from our Moorcroft vases this time we take a look at some more early 19th century pottery in these two beautiful Phoebe Stabler Poole figures:
c1920s ‘The Bull’ by Carter Stabler Adams (Poole Pottery group)
Designed by Harold and Phoebe Stabler. Modelled as two young children enclosed within a mass of coloured floral garlands sitting on the back of a large brown bull decked with further flowers, a tasselled harness and a plain blue cloth, on shaped canted base. Stands 33cm tall and 33cm wide.
1913 ‘Buster Boy’ by Hammersmith Pottery
Designed by Phoebe Stabler and potted at her own studio. Cast figure holding a garland of flowers, glazed in colours on an oatmeal ground. Impressed Hammersmith Bridge mark and signature ‘Phoebe Stabler 1913’. Internal signature in pencil ‘Grace Nelson’. Stands 18cm tall.
